Meet R5

So who is R5? What is R5?

R5 is an awesome band with an amazing fan base (the R5Family) to rival Directioners, Harmonizers, and Beliebers (I’m not kidding, the R5Family is fiercely loyal).

R5 and the R5Family have to suffer misconceptions every day. With a rhythm guitarist who scored a huge role on Disney Channel (Recognize Austin Moon from Austin & Ally?), R5 is often considered a Disney band. This is FAR from the truth. The story of R5 dates long before Ross even heard of Austin & Ally, and many of their songs (and dance moves for sure) go way beyond Disney’s smiley face tv program.

Trust me: If R5 was a Disney band, I would NOT be a fan, let alone be one of the most active members of the R5Family.

It’s like I always say, Ross isn’t a Disney star who’s in a band, he’s a band member who happens to be on Disney Channel. And I can almost guarantee R5 would agree with me on this.

Another misconception is that R5 is a boyband. Let me just get this straight: a boyband is a group of all males who sing and don’t play instruments. But R5 not only has a girl, but they play their own instruments instead of relying on an audio track. Their live music doesn’t sound like their recorded music; it’s WAY more loud and WAY more rocking. On the CD, R5 is a fun pop band. But on stage, they become this crazy,intense, and LOUD rock band.

Bio:

Riker, Rydel, Rocky, Ross, and Ryland Lynch were born and raised in Littleton, Colorado. There, they’d dance, sing, and act.

Riker wanted to be an actor, so the family moved to Los Angeles. They met Ratliff in a dance studio, and when they found out he played drums, they officially formed R5.

It’s been five years and just look at them now! The band has since then landed a contract with Hollywood Records.
